The first Scottish dance in DanceMinder is a variation (there are many!) of the Virginia Reel with a link to a good video produced by Mark Geslison and Geoff Groberg. Thedancing is a bit different on the video (did I mention there are loads of variations?) but still very good for a visual reference.
The dance of the week for this week is the Derrada Set. An easy dance with three figures of jig, polka and reel respectively. This is another dance that gives one plenty of time for battering and a few opportunities for a bit of flirting. Click through for notes, videos and music references.
The dance for this week is a longer and lively set with plenty of waltz-hold movement and opportunities for battering. Click through for notes and video links.
The Peeler And the Goat is a very simple two-hand dance that can be done with any number of people from 2 to 10000 which has some nice turns to keep things interesting. Click through for notes and video links.
