Boyne Set

This lovely set was first taught by Seamus O Mealoid at the Galway Bay Set Dancing Festival in the Clybaun Hotel, Galway in November 2008. Seamus taught the set again at the Westport Set Dance Weekend at the end of November in 2008.
The “skip” step is danced for the jig in Figure 3.

Advance and retire twice holding partners crossed hands

2Lead Around counterclockwise holding crossed hands low in front. Finish with gents facing out of the set and ladies facing in.8

4Top Couples
Advance and cross Top couples advance and retire once holding crossed hands (4b), then top gents cross on the left, take the opposite lady's right hand in right as she reverses into the gents position (2b). Move clockwise around each other to face into the centre, lady on the right, gent on the left, taking crossed hands (2b).

5Advance and cross back Top couples advance and retire with their new partners (4b), then top ladies cross on the right as the gents reverse into the ladie' positions (2b). Taking left in left with their own partner, both couples turn counter-clockwise into place and take crossed hands again (2b). Both couples are now in opposite positions.8
6Cross and turn Advance and retire once (4b), cross back on the right, each lady turning clockwise under the gents raised hands so that the lady finishes facing in from the gents position as the gent faces out (2b) and finally they turn clockwise around each other into their own places holding low crossed hands (2b)8

8Swing and chain While the second top couple swing in their own place (8b) the first top couple take right hand in right and turn clockwise around each other so the top gen is facing the side couple on his left and the top lady is facing the side couple on her right (4b). The top gent take left in left with the side lady while the top lady takes left hands with the side gent. Dance counter-clockwise until gent is nearly back home with the lady hold his left hand (2b) and turns the lady clockwise and all four form a group of four with the ladies resting their hands on the gents shoulders.8
9Swing in four Swing in little Christmas for 6b, break back into their own placed and all dancers face their own partner, taking right hands.8
