Description:


Another version of the Gay Gordons commonly danced at Scottish gatherings.
Dancers start with the lady to the gents right, both facing counter-clockwise in a large circle formation.
Hold left hands in front and right hands on the lady’s right shoulder.
Music commonly used is Scotland The Brave or The Gay Gordons.  Any 2/4 or 4/4 march will do.

Dance forward - counter-clockwise Dance forward four steps, beginning on the right foot.

2 Pivot, dance backward Pivot on the spot and dance backward four more steps (5-8), still moving counter-clockwise around the room. 2
3 Dance forward - clockwise Dance forward, this time moving clockwise, four steps, beginning on the right foot. 2
4 Pivot, dance backward Pivot on the spot and dance backward four more steps (5-8), still moving clockwise around the room. 2
5 Turn the lady Release left hands and raise right hands above the lady's head.  She pivots on the spot while the gent sets in place.
Alternatively the lady and gent can dance counter-clockwise while the lady turns.
To make the dance progressive, the lady would move to the gent ahead of her during the last two bars.

6 Dance around the room In waltz hold, dance around the room. 4
