Kildownet Half Set

Category: Irish Set
Description:

This half-set comes from Achill Island, County Mayo. It was revived by dancing teacher Eamonn Gannon. The three figures are traditionally followed by a fling.
Notes originally from The Flowing Tide by Pat Murphy, reproduced with permission. Additional notes from Set Dancing News with modifications made based on the videos of Eamonn Gannon demonstrating the dance at Matt Malloy’s in Westport.
Pat teaches the dance with a flat reel step while Eamonn uses the Clare battering step throughout.  You should coordinate steps with your partner before beginning the dance.
