Description:

This version of the Caledonian Set is written as danced in the Kilrush area, around south county Clare. The notes were given to me by Michael Tubridy, a native of Kilrush. All couples dance all the time and the set can be danced by any number of couples. It is danced in waltz hold and the “down ” or “polka” step is danced for the Jig in figure 5.

1	Everyone Body In waltz hold, all couples dance the body. They dance one step to the centre and back, turn clockwise to the next position on the right (4b), then repeat those movements three times dancing around the set.	16
2	Full house Dance around the house.	8
3	In & back, ladies move on Still in waltz hold, all couples dance in and back once (2b), then ladies move on the inside to the next lady's position on the right while the gents turn clockwise once in place (2). Then all dance in place with their new partners, turning once in waltz hold (4b).	8
4	Body In waltz hold, all couples dance the body. They dance one step to the centre and back, turn clockwise to the next position on the right (4b), then repeat those movements three times dancing around the set.	16
5	Full house Dance around the house.	8
